Booka600 – “Project Holmes”

The Melodic Rap Standout Shares a Vivid Portrait of His Rise From the South Side, With Cameos from Lil Durk, King Von, YNW Melly, Tee Grizzley, and Others

A protégé of Lil Durk, Booka600 shares his mentor’s talent for representing the emotional pain of street life. Using his personal background to tell the story of his home neighborhood in Chicago, Booka shares “Project Holmes,” his latest music video. Wielding his auto-tuned croon atop dramatic piano from TouchOfTrent, the Only The Family signee drops words of wisdom about his city, his fallen friends, and his family: “Listen to the kids, that’s most important/Especially when they say somebody hurtin’ em/Anger go a long way, it can turn to burdens/Lint all in your pocket cause the money burnt ’em.” Directed by DADA Creative, the video brings Booka’s words to life, offering pristine black-and-white images of Booka’s high-flying lifestyle–complete with cameos from Booka’s OTF head honcho Lil DurkKing VonYNW MellyTee Grizzley, and more–contrasted with shots of South Side landmarks, including local businesses, murals that depict the city’s black cultural heritage, and neighborhood characters.

“Project Holmes” is the latest video from Home•Less EP, Booka’s latest project. Spanning five tracks with rippling production from TouchOfTrent and others, Home•Less is buoyed by Booka’s skillful ability to conjure emotional storytelling with his plaintive auto-tuned melodies. Though the Only The Family signee moved to Atlanta to pursue his craft, the South Side will forever be his home, even as it evolves into something that Booka doesn’t recognize. Featuring recent singles like the heartfelt I Rap” and the hard-hitting bonus track iRockHome•Less is Booka’s most personal project yet, and it’s now available to stream via Only The Family/EMPIRE.

With the help of Durk and the rest of his OTF brethren, Booka is looking to leave his mark on 2020 with Home•Less EP, and Hi, My Name Is Loyal, his next full-length project, coming this August.
