This one-day-only program will also stream at outdoor music venues across NYC including The Rockaway Hotel, Queens Botanical Garden 99 Scott, Cafe Erzulie, Elsewhere, Ode to Babel, Public Records, and Rise Radio*
As a community, NYC is working on moving toward normalcy. Today, MoMA PS1 is set to bring back their legendary summer concert series, “Warm Up” under new restricted guidelines. They have continued to tap into new budding talent and this year they welcome J.I. the Prince of New York, an 18-year-old rapper from Brooklyn, NY, who has been on the rise within the NYC community and making a splash globally. After his performance he will join the star-studded MoMA PS1 Warm Up alumni list which includes, Cardi B, Pop Smoke, ASAP Ferg, Grimes, Solange, Lizzo and many more. MoMA PS1’s stage has broken careers and discovered new talent that NYC’s communities have supported and are carving their own essence in a cluttered industry. J.I. has done just that in the last few years with major hits such as Need Me and his most recent critically acclaimed EP, Welcome to GStarr Vol. 1.
“I am truly blessed to be back on stage and connect with fans musically through the new stream set up,” shares J.I. “Being on a stage with music, lights, and an element that you can’t replicate. Being part of MOMA PS1’s line up just confirms that my community supports me and is rooting for me. I want to continue to make NYC proud and this opportunity is to contribute endlessly to the arts that is globally represented by New Yorkers.”
J.I is set to perform at 7:00 PM ET at the PS1 Warm Up outdoor courtyard without a live audience (due to strict safety guidelines it will be recorded under the regulations of phase four for the reopening of the venue). This is historic moment for the performers and artistic community that have missed their fans and the stage to have an outlet for inventive expression.
