DANNY BROWN RELEASES NEW ALBUM ‘STARDUST’

Detroit legend and genre-defying rapper Danny Brown releases his seventh studio album Stardust, via Warp Records. Known for uprooting conventions with his fearless fusion of experimental hip-hop, punk-tinged beat chaos, and razor-sharp lyricism, Danny Brown unleashes his most audacious chapter yet, delivering a delirious descent into psych-rap that pulses with unfiltered energy and thematic depth. The glitch-driven, genre-warping Stardust is a futuristic dispatch from the fringes of hip-hop culture, built on an ever-shifting palette of noise-rap, experimental club, hyperpop mutations, and psychedelic electronics—stamped with Danny Brown’s unmistakable eccentricity, elastic delivery, and unfiltered humor, and featuring contributions from underscores, Femtanyl, Frost Children, Jane Remover, Quadeca, IssBrokie, Zheani, 8485, JOHNNASCU, Nnamdi, and Ta Ukraika. Next week, Danny Brown is kicking off a 21-stop U.S. headline tour supported by underscores and Femtanyl, kicking off November 10 in Boston, MA, including stops in Chicago, Los Angeles, and more, before wrapping up in New York, NY at Warsaw. Stardust marks another groundbreaking chapter for Danny Brown, an artist who has continually redefined indie rap on his own terms. His first album, written in sobriety, it reveals a new level of vulnerability and creative clarity, stepping into territory few rappers would dare to approach. Long recognized for spotting talent early (working with the likes of Purity Ring, Charli XCX, Evian Christ, and Ashnikko before they broke through), Brown tapped an expansive roster of musical outsiders across the album, pulling from experimental pop and underground electronics to create something messy, emotional, and held together by a strange kind of clarity.
Danny serves as the center of gravity within the world he’s curating, the connective link between collaborators mutually inspired by one another’s work. Known for his experimental style and avant-garde vision, he has endured where many peers faded, consistently pushing rap’s boundaries; and while his past work leaned into darker tones, Stardust introduces a newfound lightness—still sharp, inventive, and unafraid to challenge conventional production and storytelling.
In recent years, Danny Brown has solidified his status as one of rap’s most fearless innovators. In 2023, he released SCARING THE HOES, a critically acclaimed collaborative album with JPEGMAFIA, followed by his deeply personal sixth solo record, Quaranta, praised by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Stereogum, and more for its vulnerability and clarity. Since the release of Quaranta, Brown brought his headline tour, The Quaranta ‘24 Tour, across the United States and Europe for a sprawling 44 dates, bringing his singular energy to major cities around the world. With both projects earning widespread acclaim, he’s continued to push boundaries stylistically while opening a new chapter in his career marked by honesty, resilience, and reinvention.
Since trailblazing into the hip-hop scene with XXX, released on Fool’s Gold in 2011, Danny Brown has whipped ravers into frenzies across the world, appeared on late-night TV, worked with some of the biggest names in music, and donned multiple magazine covers. He’s also managed to bridge old and new-school rap royalty (collabs from Earl Sweatshirt to Q-Tip to Kendrick Lamar) and link with the most grailed underground electronic record labels. These days, the lifelong Motor City native is spending his days in Austin, Texas, where he’s living a sober life and tapes his comedy podcast The Danny Brown Show with YMH Studios. Featuring guest appearances from friends and co-collaborators like JPEGMAFIA, Hannibal Buress, Adam Ray, Ali Macofsky, Logic, and Code Orange’s Jami Morgan, The Danny Brown Showreveals Brown’s humanity while also giving him a platform to allow his sharp sense of humor to run wild.
