Daughtry Battles Grief “Enter the Dragon-Style” In New Video
Fighting your inner demons is a lot harder when they know martial arts. Fresh off their first No. 1 at Active Rock, Daughtry returns to battle with grief “Enter the Dragon-style” in the band’s cinematic new visual for their latest single, “Pieces“, out now on all platforms via Big Machine Records.
Written shortly after the passing of both his mother and daughter within a single week, frontman Chris Daughtry found himself drawing inspiration from one of his personal heroes, Bruce Lee, for the “Pieces” music video. Lightning, ninjas, and wolves (oh my!) abound in the epic new visual that spins a tale of universal hardships overcome by inner strength. The hard-hitting release continues to usher in a fine-tuned and razor-sharp new era for the GRAMMY®-nominated group, as they make a return to their hard rock roots, with “Pieces” leading the rollout for Daughtry’s forthcoming EP due out this fall.
“I had such an amazing time shooting this video,” Daughtry admits. “I’ve always been a massive fan of martial arts films, and this was loosely inspired by Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon. You can interpret it in many ways, I guess, but for me, it really says that no matter how much we try to run from or avoid the proverbial punches this world throws at us, we will always be faced with challenges and have to go through the darkness in order to get to the light.”
