Daughtry Battles Grief “Enter the Dragon-Style” In New Video

Fighting your inner demons is a lot harder when they know martial arts. Fresh off their first No. 1 at Active Rock, Daughtry returns to battle with grief “Enter the Dragon-style” in the band’s cinematic new visual for their latest single, Pieces, out now on all platforms via Big Machine Records.

Written shortly after the passing of both his mother and daughter within a single week, frontman Chris Daughtry found himself drawing inspiration from one of his personal heroes, Bruce Lee, for the “Pieces” music video. Lightning, ninjas, and wolves (oh my!) abound in the epic new visual that spins a tale of universal hardships overcome by inner strength. The hard-hitting release continues to usher in a fine-tuned and razor-sharp new era for the GRAMMY®-nominated group, as they make a return to their hard rock roots, with “Pieces” leading the rollout for Daughtry’s forthcoming EP due out this fall.

“I had such an amazing time shooting this video,” Daughtry admits. “I’ve always been a massive fan of martial arts films, and this was loosely inspired by Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon. You can interpret it in many ways, I guess, but for me, it really says that no matter how much we try to run from or avoid the proverbial punches this world throws at us, we will always be faced with challenges and have to go through the darkness in order to get to the light.”

Daughtry, one of the most visible and bestselling rock bands of the 21st century, has sold out concerts across the globe. Their debut album, the self-titled Daughtry, was the top-selling album of 2007 and was the fastest-selling rock debut album in Soundscan history. The record was nominated for 4 GRAMMY® Awards and won 4 American Music Awards, alongside 7 Billboard Music Awards, including “Album of the Year.” Subsequent albums, Leave This Town (2009), Break The Spell (2011), and Baptized (2013), have all gone Platinum, with Cage To Rattle (2018) certified Gold. In 2021, the band released their record Dearly Beloved, with singles “World On Fire,” “Heavy Is the Crown,” and “Changes Are Coming,” all cracking the Top 10. Following yet another Top 10 success with their 2023 smash cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” featuring Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, Daughtry ushered in a new sonic era with their debut Big Machine Records single, “Artificial.” The return to their rock roots scored the band their first No. 1 single in the Active Rock format and their first No. 1 single in 15 years, laying the groundwork for their new EP, set to release this fall.
