ECCO2K RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE ”ALDEHYDES AND KETONES”
Swedish multidisciplinary artist Zak Arogundade, better known as Ecco2k, emerges with his new song “Aldehydes and Ketones”, accompanied by an epic, self-directed music video. Produced by longtime friend and collaborator Gud, the track marks Ecco2k’s first official solo release in nearly five years, following his PXE EP (2021) and acclaimed debut album E (2019).
In the accompanying film, the protagonist, Echo, wanders in the mountains, in the wastelands, under vast, gaping skies and anonymous, hulking infrastructure, on an industrially ravaged beach, with a gigantic Airbus A380-800 taxiing in the background, engulfed by the natural and manmade sublime. Shot across twelve countries over six years of uninterrupted travel, the expansive music video marks a new visual chapter for Arogundade’s evolving mixed-media practice.
As part of the Swedish collective Drain Gang, alongside Bladee, Thaiboy Digital and Whitearmor, Ecco2K helped found one of the most influential musical and subcultural movements of the past decade, with a cult sound and aesthetic. This new release signals his continued evolution into territory distinctly his own: from the introspective coming-of-age self-portrait of E, through PXE’s existential longing to transcend personhood, to, in this latest work, an embrace of the vast world beyond the self.
