The Charlotte Native’s 2019 Fan Favorite Got a Boost This Year When a Slowed Version Gained Steam in Texas and On TikTok
Jaah SLT’s bouncy, but intense delivery is perfect for weaving between thunderous blasts of bass. Spicing up his single “In My Bag,” which gained traction earlier this year on TikTok, Jaah recruits Erica Banks for “In My Bag” (Remix). The subject of a TikTok dance trend set to a slowed version of the song that inspired over 157k video creations, “In My Bag” gained particular traction in Texas, the home of chopped-and-screwed music. As another gift for the Texas audience, Jaah rolls out the red carpet for Dallas’s Banks, who puts on a stunting masterclass, bragging about owning a BMW and a Rolls Royce and boasting about her on-demand status for guest verses. The Erica Banks remix follows another Texas-friendly remix of “In My Bag,” produced by club god BeatKing. With over 1.2 million streams on Spotify, “In My Bag” was the second TikTok hit for the North Carolina native, following 2019’s “Tuff“ which generated over 250k video creations on the platform, powering the song to over 26 million streams.
This past fall, Jaah shared 9-25-20, a 10-track project. Alternating lurching monster-movie instrumentals and hypnotic vibe-setters, 9-25-20 finds the 20-year-old rapper showing off his athletic rhymes, stacking boasts together in sing-song cadences as he slices through any beat that he encounters. The project featured appearances from Young Nudy and SLT crew members Sleep Walkin SLT, Nsikan SLT, and Loweye SLT.
Earlier this year, Jaah “2021 Banger,” a free associative smack talker that continues the intense and charismatic sound the Alamo Records signee fine-tuned throughout 2020. The song was a warning shot, informing all comers that Jaah SLT will be the next North Carolina rapper to make it big. Stay tuned for much more music from the 20-year-old artist in the near future, including a project set to drop over the summer.
