Surrounded by an exceptional live ensemble, Rashad transforms the Tiny Desk into an intimate stage for reflection, celebration and pure musicianship, delivering a 13-song set-including singles from his critically acclaimed It’s Been Awful album-that reaches across his career while shining a new light on the music that made him who he is today. His signature Southern hip-hop sound expands into something richer and more soulful, revealing the blues and jazz influences that have always lived beneath the surface of his music. Guitar, keys, bass and drums provide a warm live foundation, while alto saxophone and trumpet add an unmistakable jazz sensibility to the arrangements. Behind it all, powerhouse background vocalists Norelle and Moriah Wenzel elevate the performance with lush, soulful harmonies that give Rashad’s melodies even more emotional weight.
