ANGELIC HOODRAT: SUPERCUT – OUT NOW
One of Atlanta’s most promising and talented new rappers, Kenny Mason has just released Strays 02, a 12 minute long live performance visual featuring back to back verses from his recent project, Angelic Hoodrat: Supercut as well as last year’s debut, Angelic Hoodrat. The visual is a one of one performance recorded in a single take, unedited and uncut, featuring some of Kenny’s hardest hitting bars and rapid fire verses. The title, “Strays” has the implied double meaning of stray verses from his recent project as well as stray dogs, a common theme within the Angelic Hoodrat universe. Strays 02 showcases Kenny’s awesome rapping abilities while offering fans a taste of what’s to come later this summer when he hits the road on tour with festival dates including Rolling Loud in July.
Released last month on 4/16, Kenny Mason‘s latest project, Angelic Hoodrat: Supercut expands upon the themes he set forth on last year’s debut, showcasing his sweeping vocal range and well-earned reputation for stretching beyond the confines of rap. The new project continues the themes of duality inherent within Angelic Hoodrat representing the concepts of light within darkness, beauty within ugliness, and hope within despair. Angelic Hoodrat: Supercut is the full length spiritual successor to Kenny’s 2020 debut album which established his presence as a unique and powerful force within Atlanta’s diverse music scene.
Kenny Mason is a critically acclaimed artist from Atlanta, GA who’s debut album, Angelic Hoodrat has drawn comparisons from DJBooth to the rise of Kendrick Lamar on his breakout album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City: “If gang violence was the law of Kendrick Lamar’s maad Compton, finessing is the law of Kenny Mason’s nightmarish Atlanta.” Kenny Mason’s phenomenal abilities as a rapper and singer were widely acknowledged in late-2019 with his breakout single, “Hit” which catapulted him from Atlanta’s underground DIY scene to the national spotlight. As Kenny continues to release new music, he’s become increasingly known for his genre-bending style of rap which blends his exceptional abilities as a lyricist with the sounds of 90’s punk, grunge, and shoegaze bands like The Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and My Bloody Valentine.
