LEO RIZZI EXPLORES THE RADICAL TRANSFORMATION OF LOVE IN “CHOQUE”
Spanish-Uruguayan singer-songwriter Leo Rizzi releases “Choque”, his second single of the year, continuing his exploration of love through the glow and nostalgia of soft rock. The track and its official music video are now available on all digital platforms and on the artist’s YouTube channel.
Co-written by Leo Rizzi, Jesús José Ortega Bermúdez, and Juan González Sánchez, “Choque” digs into the transformative power of love and the intensity of falling in love. Rizzi plays with contrasting metaphors—from acts of destruction to the delicacy of emotion—to portray the emotional volatility of love experienced with complete surrender.
Through these poetic images, Rizzi reconstructs, in words, the physical sensations of falling in love: that moment before impact, when destruction and rebirth coexist.
The production, helmed by Rizzi alongside RYO—with whom he also worked on “Puro”—is steeped in nostalgia. The soft rock sound that defines this new chapter in the artist’s career is elevated by a horn section (trombone, saxophone, and trumpet) and piano, which instantly evoke the sophistipop sound of the eighties and nineties.
The official music video, shot on Kodak Film, amplifies the production’s retro values and serves as the perfect visual companion to the song’s narrative. An original concept by Ana Roda and Leo Rizzi, with both also leading the creative direction, the videoclip was directed by Sofía Boriosi, with cinematography by Sofía Colodrón and production by Sandra Paola Fierro, the video visually represents the song’s concept: new beginnings that require destruction.
The video opens with Leo driving a vintage car through the countryside until he reaches an empty field. There, alongside a briefcase containing an element from the past, the story unfolds as a lyric from the song materializes: “quemaré puentes hacia atrás / para no volver / es mi última apuesta,” which translates into English as: I’ll burn bridges behind me / never to return / it’s my final bet, capturing the feeling of liberation in leaving the ashes behind.
“Choque” follows “Puro,” Rizzi’s first release of the year, which marked a new chapter in the Spanish-Uruguayan artist’s career.
