Approaching trap beats from odd angles with his hiccuping vocals, Lil Gotit is a standard-bearer for the new generation of Atlanta trap. Tightening up his rhymes and digging deep into his arsenal of flows, Gotit shares Hood Baby 2, his new mixtape. The sequel to his 2018 debut mixtape, which announced the then-19-year-old Gotit as a player to watch in his hometown scene, the upcoming Hood Baby 2 demonstrates the rapper’s artistic evolution–his flows hit harder, his ad-libs are wilder, and his money is longer. He’s an ever-evolving presence across the tape’s 18 tracks, showing off his singing chops on “Trap Or Die,” experimenting with overlapping flows on project-opener “Bricks In The Attic,”currently found on Spotify’s Most Necessary and Off The Strength playlists, and trying his hand at a T.I.-style early trap banger with “Hood Talk.

The new project is a coronation for Gotit, as his hometown’s biggest stars–including FutureGunna, and Lil Yachty–line up to welcome the young rapper to ATL’s A-List. Featuring multiple appearances from Gotit’s brother and fellow rising star Lil Keed, with whom he shares an electric chemistry, and boasting further appearances from Guap TarantinoSG KendallUno FreakyRJ Jaydog, and B SlimeHood Baby 2 arrives via Alamo Records.

To accompany the release of the mixtape, Gotit shares an animated video for “Yeah Yeah,” a project highlight. Boasting a hypnotic hook from ATL’s trap overlord Future, “Yeah Yeah” is an ode to getting too faded to function. A heavy-hitting track tailor-made for headphone-blasting, the song finds Gotit and Lil Keed dance around the percolating 808s and Future’s intoxicating ad-libs with their eccentric styles. The song arrives with an evocative visualizer, which brings the lyrics to life, offering images of all three rappers intercut with clips from the world of high fashion, fast cars, space travel, and more. “Yeah Yeah” is the third visual from Hood Baby 2, following the clips for Never Legit and the behind-the-scenes glimpse offered by Bricks In The Attic.

It’s already been a productive 2020 for Lil Gotit. In February, the 20-year-old rapper connected with London On Da Track for Superstar Creaturean 11-track new project. The mixtape finds Gotit stretching his vocal muscles on highlights like the motormouthed, Latin-inflected “Argentina,” the wavy, falsetto-laden “Freak B*tches,” the bouncy lead single “Bet Up” (2.7 million YouTube Views), video single Free Melly” (646k views) more. Featuring appearances from Polo GYoung Nudy, and Slimelife Shawty, who appeared in the recent video for Slime Hood,” Superstar Creature is available everywhere via Alamo Records.
