MON LAFERTE EXPLORES THE MYSTERY AND POWER OF WOMEN ON HER NINTH ALBUM, FEMME FATALE

Mon Laferte, New Music, Music, Entertainment News, New Music Releases, Sony Music

Mon Laferte announces the release of Femme Fatale, her new studio album featuring 14 songs where alternative pop and jazz intertwine in a dark, sophisticated, and deeply poetic territory.

The title of the record evokes the figure of the femme fatale: mysterious, intense, and contradictory. Historically described in pop culture as a dangerous woman, Mon Laferte makes that definition her own: dangerous, beautiful, and seductive, confident in herself. With her sharp pen, in Femme Fatale, that force transforms into music, poetry, and confession.

In this project, Mon Laferte ventures into a hybrid language: the dense harmonies and nocturnal atmospheres of jazz coexist with the freshness and immediacy of alternative pop. The result is an album that is both elegant and brutal, where classical and experimental elements mingle to create a unique sonic universe.

The album features the previously released singles “Esto Es Amor” with Conociendo Rusia, “La Tirana” in collaboration with Nathy Peluso, as well as brand-new collaborations with Brazilian singer-songwriter TIAGO IORC on “Hasta Que Nos Despierte La Soledad” and with Mexican singer-songwriters Natalia Lafourcade and Silvana Estrada on “My One And Only Love.”

Vida Normal,” the closing track, starkly portrays daily life through cigarettes, coffee, pills, and fatigue. With phrases oscillating between irony and vulnerability, it exposes the tension between the stability one longs for and the chaos within.

The lyrics of Femme Fatale are dark, intimate, poetic, and existentialist, yet expressed in a contemporary language—sometimes raw, always emotionally complex. In them, Mon Laferte transforms the everyday into a political and poetic metaphor, exploring the boundaries between the intimate and the collective.

Femme Fatale marks a turning point in Mon Laferte’s body of work. With a bold, dark, and poetic proposal, the album confirms her ability to reinvent herself and to expand the limits of Latin American music.

As a singer-songwriter, she reaffirms her singular place within the scene, uniting music, words, and artistic vision. Each song is a declaration of principles: a call to inhabit vulnerability with strength, to confront one’s ghosts directly, and to transform intimate experience into universal art.
