Chinese Canadian singer-songwriter PIAO delivers her highly-anticipated new single, “if i am me, then who are you?” available now on all streaming platforms via BMG.
“if i am me, then who are you?” introduces a refined, genre-blending sound that leaves listeners questioning yet wandering in a whimsical daze. Playing off her signature sound that includes immersive and atmospheric soundscapes, PIAO dances around the concept of how one sees oneself.
“‘if i am me, then who are you?’ captures the tension between who I feel like vs. who I appear to be,” shares PIAO. “Standing face to face with someone who is ultimately myself. Looking at a mirror but not recognizing yourself…not because you look different, but because they seem stronger than you feel. Times where I question how one can feel so divided while ultimately being singular. It’s about the weirdness of being both at once and how one’s consciousness chooses to either see a reflection as truth or a lie.”
Alongside the release of the single, PIAO unveils an official music video that visually expands the track’s emotional depth. Featuring a sharp yet fluid choreographed routine, PIAO effectively translates the song’s emotion through movement, adding another dimension to the single.
