RISING SINGER-SONGWRITER MADDEN METCALF RETURNS WITH BREEZY NEW SINGLE “DRINKIN’ WELL”

Rising singer-songwriter Madden Metcalf releases his new song Drinkin’ Well via Wexler Records/MCA. Blending beachside nostalgia with heartfelt honesty, the breezy yet wistful track finds the 20-year-old Florida native delivering another irresistible anthem rooted in vivid storytelling, infectious melodies, and his signature Gulf Coast perspective.

“This song reminds me of those little beach restaurants along the Gulf Coast where everybody’s got a story to tell. We wanted it to feel fun and laid-back, but also real. It’s about trying to move on, even when somebody’s still on your mind, and not taking yourself too seriously along the way. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it,” says Metcalf.

Produced by Jacob Paul Rice and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter/producer Freddy Wexler (Billy Joel, Post Malone), “Drinkin’ Well” arrives on the heels of a breakout year for Metcalf. Following the release of his acclaimed debut EP Saltwater Southern and the sun-soaked anthem “Sound Of The Summer,” Metcalf continues to establish himself as one of country music’s most compelling young storytellers. Written by Madden Metcalf, Jimi Bell (Jon Pardi, Riley Green), Ben Hayslip (Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan), and Jacob Paul Rice, the track pairs clever lyricism with an unforgettable hook, showcasing the emotional honesty and coastal charm that have quickly become a hallmark of Metcalf’s songwriting.

Built around the instantly memorable refrain, “No, I ain’t doin’ good, but I’m drinkin’ well,” the track captures the push and pull of heartbreak with Metcalf’s signature blend of wit and vulnerability. Blending modern country with the easygoing spirit of the Gulf Coast, “Drinkin’ Well” pairs breezy acoustic guitars, shimmering steel, and a warm, laid-back groove with Metcalf’s smooth vocal performance and an undeniably catchy chorus. The result is a hook-filled anthem that balances heartache, humor, and resilience, inviting listeners to sing along long after the final chorus.

Building on his growing momentum, Metcalf recently stopped by USA TODAY Acoustic, where he performed his summer anthem “Sound Of The Summer” and sat down for an exclusive interview, offering fans an intimate look at the stories behind his music.
