SOFI TUKKER Release Remix Of Their Dance-Infused Banger “Veneno” With &friends

Upon their return to Carnaval in Brazil, genre-defying duo SOFI TUKKER has shared a remix of their electrifying track “Veneno” feat. Mari Merenda & Sophia Ardessore with international phenomenon &friends. On the heels of the viral success of their earlier track which has amassed over 5 million Spotify streams, the remix retains the joy and catchiness of their previous rendition, with a new house music element weaved throughout. The collaboration between SOFI TUKKER and &friends is a match made in heaven between two cutting-edge acts with passionate global influences.

SOFI TUKKER’s first recording of “Veneno”came to life after fans sent the band TikTok videos of Mari Merenda and Sophia Ardessore singing the song acapella. SOFI TUKKER quickly put together a guitar line and a beat, documenting and posting the process on socials for their “Behind The Song” on TikTok. The clip soon went viral, with thousands sharing and commenting on the posts, building demand to officially record and release “Veneno” as a single – the clips amassed 25M views before the song was even released. “Veneno”, which means “venom” in Portuguese, is all about bringing people together and sharing the love of the rich musical culture of Brazil, based on Ronaldo Silva’s “Rodopiado” in the Carimbó genre.

SOFI TUKKER have spent nearly a decade building their global reputation as one of the most vibrant, positive and community-driven dance music groups, with inspiration by house, jazz and Brazil. Sophie is fluent in Portuguese and the band take great pride in the significant role the country has played in their music. The group’s first collaborator was the Brazilian poet Chacal, who remains a close friend and frequent collaborator on their music’s Portuguese lyrics. The duo recently performed at São Paulo’s biggest stadium alongside Kendrick Lamar and Thundercat for Formula 1 Grand Prix Week at Allianz Parque, performed “Veneno” on The Noite (a Brazilian late night TV) with Mari and Sophia, and made the rounds at Brazil’s Fashion Week including PatBO and walking in the HIST Fashion Show.

The “Veneno” remix follows other Brazilian-inspired tracks from the band over the last year, including their hypnotic reimagination of “Várias Queixas” (feat. Gilsons), the Brazilian-dance fusion track “Trompa” with Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, and their global hit “Jacare” which has amassed more than 10 million streams. Other recent output from SOFI TUKKER includes their disco-inspired pop/dance collab with The Knocks, “One on One,” that Billboard called, “a sprightly nu-disco banger,” while Consequence raved it’s, “the kind of song you just never want to end.” They also were behind inspired remixes of GRAMMY-winning Jon Batiste’s “Worship” from the acclaimed album World Music Radio, and “Sunshine (My Girl)” by Wuki which reimagines the classic Temptations vocal with a Brazilian beat.
