SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR SHARES PNAU REMIX OF “MURDER ON THE DANCEFLOOR”
British superstar Sophie Ellis-Bextor shares a PNAU remix of one of her most loved and successful songs “Murder on the Dancefloor”, which recently returned to the Official UK Singles Chart at #2 and continues to climb up the Billboard Hot 100 Chart—currently sitting at #51.
The brand-new remix of the song sees multi-platinum selling electronic act PNAU team up with Sophie for a funky, electro-house version of the track. As well as their own hits, such as “Go Bang” and “Chameleon,” PNAU has also worked with some of the biggest acts in the world, including penning a remix for Elton John and Dua Lipa for “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” and working with Elton John on his remix album Good Morning to the Night.

After featuring in the epic final scene of Emerald Fennell’s recently released and much-talked-about film Saltburn, Sophie’s popular 2001 hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” has seen a huge resurgence across the world, resulting in global charting success. Old and new fans are streaming the viral song, and the track is being used as a trending audio for millions of videos across socials. The song continues to garner new achievements, amassing over 140 million streams so far in 2024 and charting in the US on the Billboard Hot 100 for the very first time, where it currently sits at #51, and on the Billboard Global 200, where it peaked at #10. It is also currently the most-added song at USTop 40 radio and is charting in the Top 30 on the chart. “Murder on the Dancefloor” previously peaked at #1 on the Spotify Viral 100 Chart and climbed to Top 40 on the US Spotify Top 200. It also hit #1 on the iTunes Dance Chart, Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart, and Top 10 on the US Shazam Chart.
Next week, Sophie will make her US late night television debut by performing “Murder on the Dancefloor” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 12th—be sure to tune in for an epic performance! “Murder on the Dancefloor” became a Top 10 hit worldwide on release 22 years ago, charting at #2 in the UK and within the Top 3 in Australia, New Zealand, and four European countries. The iconic music video, which is now available in 4K for the first time, sees a cunning Sophie compete in a dance competition and deceptively get rid of her fellow contestants. The video was filmed by Sophie Muller and was one of their first videos together, beginning a long working relationship that still continues today.
Sophie recently announced she will be releasing “Murder on the Dancefloor” on 7” vinyl for the first time as a limited edition red 7”, and will also release a limited-edition red CD single. Both are available to pre-order here and will be released on February 16th through Polydor/Casablanca.
She also recently shared a 7-track Murder on the Dancefloor EP, featuring “Murder on the Dancefloor” alongside the original B-Side “Never Let Me Down,” the Extended Album Version, and remixes from Jewels & Stone, Danny D, Hq and Twin Murder. All tracks were originally released in 2001, but the majority are brand new to streaming services.
