SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BAND SITTING ON STACY DROPS VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “THIS SUMMER’S DAY”

SET TO EMBARK ON CO-HEADLINE TOUR WITH THE AQUADOLLS THIS SPRING

Southern California rock band Sitting On Stacy unveils the video for their new single “This Summer’s Day”. The video was shot, directed, and edited by the band and features tongue-in-cheek recreations of iconic scenes from some of their favorite TV shows and movies, like Friends, Thelma & Louise, Psycho, and more.

On the video, Sitting On Stacy says, “The first line of the song inspired the video: ‘I love it when you twirl your hair when we’re watching a movie.’ We wanted there to be a supernatural quality with what was on the TV to be having glitches and changing between different movie genres. We wanted a cool music video with a funny twist where nothing was taken too seriously.
We wanted the darkness of the night and eeriness of the unknown with the UFO to contrast what the song brings, namely the anticipation of summer fun and a free spirit.”

The band continues, “We shot it in a week and a half and used parts of our house and our backyard for the main locations. We drew a story board animatic to the music and shot it shot for shot. The campy western scene was hilarious and by far the most fun to shoot because of our outfits and our non-professional acting skills. We hope everyone enjoys the video!!”

“This Summer’s Day” features a dreamy intro and bouncy verses that lead into an intoxicating, summer romance-ready chorus. Consequence recently praised the song for its “sun-soaked sheen”, saying, “The San Diego-based bandmates combine ska and surf rock with influences from the 50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s to create a fresh new take on the age old ‘guys with guitars’ trope in a decade where the height of romance is, as frontman Hoyt Yeatman croons, ‘Never looking at your phone when we’re talking.’”

Sitting On Stacy will embark on their co-headline tour with fellow Californians The Aquadolls next month. The tour kicks off in Santa Ana on March 10th and makes stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and more, wrapping up in San Diego on April 16th—see the full list of tour dates below.

Sitting On Stacy sounds like Southern California. With sun-soaked sixties-style harmonies, galloping punked-out rhythms, and moments of swaying reggae, the trio—Hoyt Yeatman [lead vocals, guitar], Kyle Hart [bass, vocals], and Trevor Smith [drums]—bottle these breezy vibes into a bold, bright, and upbeat signature sound. Growing up north of Los Angeles in Ventura County, the boys initially met in a middle school music program at Rock Nation Studios. Friendly childhood jams evolved into proper high school bands. They officially formed Sitting On Stacy during 2017, cutting their teeth with countless college house party gigs up and down the coast while attending San Diego State University.

Following Obsessed, Perfectly Sane, and the Mel’s Neck of the Woods EP, “Chest Hair” cracked 1 million Spotify streams in 2019 as buzz grew. Once the global pandemic hit, the boys turned to TikTok, posting covers on the platform. After gathering millions of streams independently and working with Fat Mike of NOFX, the band properly introduce themselves with “This Summer’s Day.”
