TAY MONEY FLEXES ON NEW SINGLE “PB&J”
Rising Texas MC Tay Money returns with a casually flexing new single and video, “PB&J.” Powered by Tay’s signature blend of witty one-liners and infectious choruses, as well as some teeth-chattering bass work, the track is a slinking club-ready banger, timed to the start of a summer that’s sure to be debaucherous. “PB&J” is available now at all digital retailers. Built around a playful interpolation of the Buckwheat Boyz’s “Peanut Butter Jelly Time,” “PB&J,” showcases Tay Money’s easy flow and inventive style. She’s a flexible MC, smooth but with the ability to drop explosive bars. Tay cuts through the heavy low-end with her confident delivery and raunchy rhymes: “Baby if you twerk you’re gonna end up in his shirt,” she raps. The video, directed by Outlaw Mel and shot by Dallas mainstay Dance Dailey, allows Tay’s personality to shine. Decked out in vibrant colors and head wraps that look like they came from the ‘50s, she carries most of the video herself, showing just how much charisma she packs into her delivery.
“PB&J” comes on the heels of another hard-hitting anthemic track, “Asthma Pump,” which was the first single from a new EP set to arrive this spring. A small clip of “Asthma Pump” has been buzzing on TikTok, catching the attention of artists and influencers including Lizzo and Sienna Mae. Tay Money has been on a ferocious run of late, releasing her acclaimed Blockedt at the end of 2020 and her latest smash, “Work Witcha,” in early March.
These latest hits feature the unfiltered lyrics and attitude that have made the Dallas artist one of the most exciting new stars to watch. Featured on the February digital cover of ELEVATOR and hailed by FLAUNT as “one of the hardest female rappers of our generation,” Tay’s in the midst of a hot streak stretching back to the release of Blockedt. She made that EP with heavyweights like Derrick Milano (a cowriter on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer”) and Bankroll Got It (producers of hits like “DO DAT” by Stunna 4 Vegas featuring DaBaby and Lil Baby), collaborations that fed into the boundary-pushing energy of her new tracks. “PB&J” is another swaggering entry from Tay, who has quickly shown why she’s one of the most exciting new MCs to emerge from Texas’ fertile scene. The song, like all of her hits, blends sexy, dancefloor-ready energy, with the deft style of one of rap’s most confident young stars.
