Tove Lo & SG Lewis Ignite the Scene with ‘Heat’ EP
TOVE LO AND SG LEWIS TO PERFORM AT GLASTONBURY ON FRIDAY, JUNE 28
Internationally recognized, multi-platinum-selling, award-winning artists Tove Lo and SG Lewis have released their exciting collaborative EP, now available everywhere via Pretty Swede Records.
Each track stands out, with “Let Me Go OH OH” echoing the club sounds of the late nineties and early 2000s. Tove Lo shares, “We aimed to create something that resonates with the vibe of Kylie’s ‘Can’t get you out of my head’…sexy, cool, and hypnotic.” “Busy Girl,” on the other hand, was crafted with “drag queens and sassy bitches” in mind. “We aimed to bring back some of that 2000’s dirty electro-house like Fedde le Grand or Mason, and TEED & I had collaborated on the perfect instrumental for that,” adds SG Lewis. The final track, “Desire,” is the EP’s “90’s trance moment,” according to Lewis. “I wanted it to be deeply emotional, something that could be played at the end of the night. It felt like the perfect way to conclude the EP.”
The duo has also unveiled a bold new NSFW official music video for their EP title track, directed by David Wilson (Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, Christine & The Queens, Mabel) and filmed at the iconic London nightclub, Electrowerkz, a cornerstone of the London LGBTQIA+ club scene. Tove Lo explains, “With this EP, we wanted the visuals to reflect the free, open, and sexy energy we’ve put into the music, surrounded by our queer fans who inspired us to make these songs.” SG Lewis adds, “We wanted the video to celebrate the queer community, and for the shoot itself to be a big, sweaty party. Once we met David on Zoom, we had full trust in his visions and gave him complete creative control”.
David Wilson, the director, adds, “HEAT is a project consisting of 4 music videos, one for every song of the HEAT EP. The videos are tied together by the narrative of Ali, a protagonist that journeys through ‘Club Heat’, a fictional, queer London nightclub. Each video we shot was a different perspective on ‘Club Heat’; depicting the breadth of experiences in nightlife.”
To kick off the release celebrations, Tove Lo and SG Lewis hosted an epic CLUB HEAT party in West Hollywood last night, where both artists, surrounded by friends and fans, DJ’ed B2B, playing tracks off the EP as well as some of their favorite club cuts. To commemorate the occasion, Spotify made a donation to The Trevor Project, an organization close to both Tove and SG. CLUB HEAT, which officially debuted last month with a party in London, is scheduled to return later this month at Glastonbury Festival.
HEAT was co-written by Tove Lo and SG Lewis, who produced the EP. The 4-track EP also features additional production from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
