Vogue and YouTube Announce “A Moment With the Met” on Monday, May 4
The intimate evening will be available to livestream exclusively on YouTube
Vogue announced “A Moment with the Met,” a YouTube-exclusive livestream marking the first Monday in May, an evening that has long been dedicated to raising funds for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The livestream will begin at 6:00pm EST on May 4th on Vogue’s YouTube channel, and will include a special performance by Florence + The Machine and a DJ set by Virgil Abloh.
“It would be impossible to recreate the gala on Monday evening, though I have loved hearing how so many are marking the occasion in their own ways,” said Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. “So instead, I asked a few friends to join me for a simple moment—one that I hope will bring us all a bit of joy.”
To commemorate the occasion, Vogue will make a donation to both the Costume Institute and “A Common Thread,” and will ask viewers to consider contributing to either organization if they are able.
Leading up to the livestream, Vogue will also take a look back at previous Met Galas—as well as release new videos featuring Cardi B., Naomi Campbell, Liv Tyler, Stella McCartney, and Liza Koshy. More details on Vogue’s May 4th line-up here.
Because of the global health crisis, the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, About Time: Fashion and Duration, has been postponed until October 29. The exhibition, which showcases selections originating from 1870 to 2020—and which, according to Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of its Costume Institute, set out to consider the nature of time and fashion—is previewed by Hamish Bowles and Annie Leibovitz in the May issue of Vogue and can be seen here.
