Detroit’s 42 Dugg returns with the blistering new single “SpinDatBac” via CMG /Interscope Records. Bursting with razor-sharp bars and bone-rattling beats, the no-holds-barred track exemplifies why Dugg is one of the fastest-rising stars in all of hip-hop. Alongside the track comes an exhilarating video in which showcases the rapper’s next-level showmanship.
“This for my thugs who ain’t heard me in a minute, my ten Ms comin’ when I get it Imma split it,” Dugg spits at the start of “SpinDatBac” over swirling ethereal tones and epic piano. As the song progresses, bombastic percussion accompanies the unapologetic missive. “I’m doing this shit for y’all all my little ones on the East, I should be preaching peace but you know how I get,” he raps before detailing his successes and future goals in a series of scorched-earth verses.
“SpinDatBac” follows the release of “Go Again” and “One Time,” the rapper’s first releases of 2023. Last year, Dugg teased his return with the single “Soon,” alongside its playful, confident counterpart “IDGAF.” He also solidified himself as a quintessential team player, showing out with two memorable verses on the CMG label compilation Gangsta Art.
Prior to that, Dugg linked with EST Gee for Last Ones Left, which debuted at No. 7 on Billboard 200. That collab was preceded by his 2021 mixtape, Free Dem Boyz. The solo set includes star-studded collabs with Future, Lil Durk, Rowdy Rebel, Fivio Foreign, and Gee. Free Dem Boyz debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 in May—Dugg’s first Top 10 win—and spent 8 weeks on the chart. It also featured “4 Da Gang,” which cracked the Hot 100 and reached the top 25 of Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs.
Now, with “SpinDatBac,” Dugg unleashed a rollicking crowd-pleaser with doubles as a statement of intent.
