Going into Carín León’s concert at Toyota Center on May 31, the photographer was unsure of what to expect. While León’s name was familiar, his music was not, and this marked the photographer’s first experience attending a regional Mexican concert. As both a concert photographer and music fan, exploring different genres was nothing new, but this particular show represented completely unfamiliar territory.
The first thing that stood out was the crowd. Long before the performance began, fans were filling the arena wearing cowboy hats, boots, and León merchandise. There was a sense of excitement throughout the building that felt distinct from any concert previously covered. It was evident that this was more than just a night out for many attendees. The music carried personal meaning, creating a deeper connection between the artist and his audience.
