On the evening of September 19th, 2024, the air was electric with anticipation as fans gathered outside Toronto’s Rebel for an unforgettable night of music. The concert promised a unique blend of sounds, headlined by artist JPEGMAFIA and supported by the up-and-coming talent, Jane Remover.
The energy in the room intensified as Jane Remover took the stage, kicking off the evening with her song “Flash in the Pan”. Jane Remover captivated the audience with her signature blend of introspective lyrics and experimental sounds. She has been making waves in the underground scene and her performance in Toronto showcased exactly why. Jane drew listeners into her world, creating a connection that felt both personal and profound. As she closed her set with “Magic I Want,” the applause erupted, a testament to her growing influence in the music scene.

During the brief intermission, fans were chanting JPEGMAFIA’s nickname, “Peggy,” has they eagerly awaited his arrival to the stage. The lights dimmed, and the atmosphere shifted as he took to the stage. JPEGMAFIA is known for his chaotic energy and intense stage presence; Toronto fans knew they were in for a treat showing up to his show. The moment he stepped out, clad in his signature bold style, the crowd erupted into cheers. He wasted no time launching into “Jesus Forgive Me, I Am A Thot”, a fan favourite, instantly igniting the energy in Rebel.

JPEGMAFIA‘s live shows are notorious for their intensity, and this performance was no exception. He seamlessly blended tracks from his latest album, “I Lay Down My Life for You” with classic hits, creating an exhilarating experience. He also performed various songs from his collaborative album with Danny Brown, “SCARING THE HOES,” released in 2023. Although Brown was not able to make it to the show, JPEGMAFIA made sure to shout him out before performing their songs. Early on the setlist, JPEGMAFIA also sang an acapella cover of “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

One highlight of the night came when he performed “Baby I’m Bleeding,” he thanked his fans for the success of this song before performing it. “Baby I’m Bleeding” off his second album “Veteran” has over 26 million streams on Spotify and was certainly a career-shifting moment for the artist back in 2018. The crowd was consistently moshing in the pit, creating a high-energy chaotic atmosphere that felt electric. JPEGMAFIA closed the night with a performance of “it’s dark and hell is hot” off his latest album.
As the lights dimmed and the crowd began to disperse, the buzz of excitement was palpable. Fans left Rebel having experienced a night of stellar performances. Although JPEGMAFIA’s Lay Down My Life Tour is coming to an end for North America, the artist announced a second leg of the tour for early 2025. Most of the dates are in Europe, New Zealand and Australia, but JPEGMAFIA hinted in his Instagram comment section that the tour does not end there. Keep your eyes peeled—this is a tour you do not want to miss!
