ÁLVARO DÍAZ ENTERS HIS BAD BOY ERA WITH NEW SINGLE “BABYRECORDS”
3X Latin GRAMMY nominated Puerto Rican star, Álvaro Díaz, releases highly anticipated single & visuals for “BABYRECORDS” via Universal Music Latino. The track, inspired by the old school reggaeton of legendary artists such as Tego Calderon & Voltio in which bars and wordplay were at the forefront of the music, was produced by 7X Latin GRAMMY winning producer Sky Rompiendo (Bad Bunny, Karol G, FEID).
The track is a nod to reggaeton icon, Zion and his label Baby Records which he launched in the early 2000s. In the last 30 seconds of the song, we hear a snippet of Zion’s fronteo from “Ven Pegate” [Zion, Arcángel & De la Ghetto] where he brags about his success, making music for the girls and boasting about being original. Additionally, “BABYRECORDS” references a bar from the song “Pro” from his ‘Diaz Antes’ album where he says “las nenas lindas escuchan a Alvarito” which recently went viral on socials.
The video was directed by WAIV, Díaz’s longtime collaborator, and shot in Mexico City. The visuals are peppered with hidden messages for fans to uncover. It’s a collage of ideas which reflect a day in the mind of Álvaro, which to an outsider it won’t make sense, but not for Álvaro, who understands that possibilities are infinite.
Last week, Díaz was honored by The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) alongside six National Youth Awardees from across the U.S. at the 27th Annual National Youth Awards in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was the first-ever recipient of the Huella Award which was created to recognize young Latino trailblazers in the public eye whose cultural impact leaves a lasting imprint on youth and the country. The honor celebrated his inimitable sound and style, as well as the inspiring path Díaz continues to forge, empowering young people to embrace their most authentic selves through his voice and his art.
