An Intimate Evening with Kate Hudson: A Journey from Screen to Song at the Grammy Museum

Fans in Los Angeles were treated to a special intimate performance by singer/actress Kate Hudson at the Grammy Museum at LA Live. The evening started with a moderated panel with one of the writers of the Grammy Awards, David Wild. David and Kate spoke about her journey into singing and what led to her debut album. Kate mention she has naturally loved singing, but her downtime during the pandemic really provided opportunity to reflect on her life, goals and the finality of time. This time of reflection was a jumping off point which led her to dive right into her musical journey.

Fans in the audience were quick to jump in with the favorite songs as the moderator asked specific questions about songs on her album. Kate shared stories of love, heartache and inspiration as key themes in the songs on her album. An exciting moment for fans came when the floor was opened up to questions and audience members got to engage with he star and ask questions about her transition from acting to singing, expressing their love of her craft and how they have helped them through difficult moments in their lives and of course asked which of her talented family she would want to collaborate with on a song in the future. The passion and energy in the room was palpable and connected.

Following the Q&A, it was now time for Kate to perform a brief selection of songs with the support of her band. Kate performed songs like “Gonna Find Out”, “Live Forever” and “Talk About Love”. Each song was provided additional commentary by Kate as she expressed additional meaning, whether it was about her son, her partners or just a personal experience to her life. You could feel and see the connection between her songs and lyrics, which then was internalized with the audience. The audience was treated with a screening of Kate’s music video for “Voices Carry” and then received another treat when Kate played that song live in a stripped down performance where her voice could carry around the whole room.

Kate closed out her performance with the show stopping ballad “Glorious” where her infectious and soulful vocals belted out the chorus and it was a true spectacle to be in this intimate space with such a big personality and singer. As the final note rang out, the crowd cheered and you could see the gratitude and appreciation in Kate’s face and demeanor as she took a final bow and thanked everyone for coming.
Los Angeles is known for talent and unique experiences and this show was the definition of a true LA Moment.
