ANDERSON .PAAK AND CORDAE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ‘HEAVY IS THE CROWN’ OUT OCTOBER 23RD

9x GRAMMY-Award winning artist Anderson .Paak and GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum rapper Cordae announce forthcoming collaborative album, Heavy Is the Crown, arriving October 23 on APESHIT/Mass Appeal/EMPIRE.
The project is born from years of mutual respect and creative evolution. Inspired by the playful irreverence that has long defined their friendship, the Heavy Is the Crown artwork is a nod to the cult comedy film Step Brothers which reinforces the duo’s willingness to balance world-class musicianship with humor. Much like the film, the record celebrates brotherhood and the kind of chemistry that can only exist between two artists who genuinely enjoy making music together.
While .Paak has emerged as one of contemporary music’s most dynamic and influential artists, performers, and producers, and Cordae has established himself as one of hip-hop’s premier lyricists, the record finds the two artists meeting on equal footing. Since first connecting on the fan-favorite “RNP” from Cordae’s critically acclaimed debut album The Lost Boy, the duo has developed one of hip-hop’s most natural creative partnerships. This has carried through collaborations like “Two Tens” and “Summer Drop,” as well as a string of performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the BET Awards, and more, that have showcased their camaraderie.
Earlier this year, Anderson .Paak celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Malibu with the release of exclusive anniversary vinyl and limited-edition cassettes in partnership with EMPIRE. Upon initial release with the independent music company in 2016, the album was met with widespread critical acclaim – earning GRAMMY nominations and achieving RIAA Gold certification. The anniversary product is still available for order at https://shop.andersonpaak.com/
Now with Heavy Is The Crown on the horizon, the duo just announced a brand new robust physical offering with six retailer exclusive vinyl products covering Amazon to Indie Retail, and an animated zoetrope version for D2C. The collection is rounded out with a cassette and CD – the latter features a lenticular cover that showcases the album cover image transitioning into the pair fighting. It is available everywhere at heavyisthecrown.net
