Andy Frasco returned to Chicago last night, giving a jaw-dropping performance. Fans, of the alternative rock band, stood outside Thalia Hall. As Chicago starts to get colder, many fans were sporting, flannels, denim, and leather jackets. Entering the music hall we were all greeted with a warm blast of air. It was long before the room filled with fans. The line for coat check was longer than the lines for the bar. fans danced as they waited for Nick Gerlach’s Cult Conference to take the stage. The house lights faded out, leaving only a blue cast from the stage lights. A silhouette appeared before the crowd and they went wild. With the lights still low and smooth jazz playing in the back, we were met with the sound of a saxophone. Nick gave an amazing performance on the sax and keys, that was accompanied by a futuristic backtrack.

Nick Gerlach had the crowd so hyped. He was interacting with them the whole time. His understanding of who his audience is made his performance that much better. Everyone in the venue was dancing and humming along. looking out into the sea of smiling eyes filled my heart with joy. Fans respected Chicagos mask mandate, only taking their masks off to drink. When Nick set came to an end, a wave of sighs filled the room. Fans cheered for one more song sadly they were left wanting more. We all stood eagerly waiting for Andy Frasco And The U.N. to take the stage. Almost everyone was cheering and clapping for the stagehands who were setting the instruments for Frascos Set. A loud deafening roar rang in my ears as the house lights faded out again.

Andy Frasco and the rest of the band took the stage wasting no time. They opened with “Friends(A Song About Friends)”,” C Boogie”, and “The walk”. Fans danced and sang along. They then played “Graves” and “Find A Way”. Frasco took the mic and hopped on the piano ordering fans to get down low. Fans listened and got as low to the floor as they could. Only one fan stayed standing, waving her finger at Frasco. During the middle of his set, They played some of my personal favorites. They played ‘Pay To See You Smile” a cover of “thunder Struck” and my Favorite “Blame it on the Pussy”.

They closed out the show with “Sunny Day”, “Mature as Fuck”, and “Keep On Keepin’ On”. The saxophone paired with the vampy guitar and bass was so enchanting. Everyone was screaming and dancing the entirety of the show. It was hard for me not to stop and dance with everyone. Fans were so friendly dancing with one another and cheering each other on.
The crowd’s energy fueled the band and they gave one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. All in all both artists gave amazing draw-dropping performances. I walked out of Thalia Hall speechless, I was at a loss for words. I recommend that everyone go see either artist if given the chance. I’m left wanting more and eagerly awaiting their return.
