Continuing to make buzz-worthy appearances and turn heads across the culture, rising Atlanta rapper and personality Omerettà The Great tore the roof off during her Strength Of A Woman Festival performances at State Farm Arena this past weekend and a halftime performance of her brand new song for the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream home opener at Gateway Arena on May 11.
Omerettà wrote the song for the Dream’s 2022 season, capturing the spirit and tenacity of the team in a series of spitfire rhymes highlighted by booming instrumentals.
Of the show, Omerettà commented: “I just want to be able to represent my city and where I come from. I’m Atlanta to the core, and it’s important that everyone recognizes that. It is important for me for the world to see my authenticity and understand my emotions and where I come from. Women in sports and women in music both have the same struggle when it comes to being accepted. The dope thing about this Atlanta Dream collab is that it represents strong women breaking barriers.”
In addition to the halftime performance, Omerettà stood out as just one of many powerhouses in attendance at Mary J. Blige’s The Strength Of A Woman Festival And Summit over Mother’s Day weekend. The event focused on wellness and beauty as well as tech, financial literacy, and music. Its date and location were intentionally chosen not only based on Atlanta being a hub for young Black creatives, but also for Mary’s amplification and empowerment of women through her music.
