Blazing a trail to the forefront of the culture, the Bay Area’s fastest rising supergroup AG Club uncover the music video for their new single “KEVIN” today. Stream it at all DSPs HERE.

The group, led by Jody Fontaine and Baby Boy, notably conceptualized the video themselves alongside in-house director Ivan Collaco (CAJH) and consistent visual collaborator Neema Sadeghi. It unfolds like two movies conjoined by their airtight lyrical volley. In a cinematic claymation-style clip akin to an old nineties VHS tape, Jody transforms into a city-crushing devilish creature who stomps through the streets like Godzilla in sync with the beat, before crashing in on a board room meeting about the group themselves. Meanwhile, Baby Boy appears accompanied by a gothic choir who eerily nod in unison with Jody, giving you a look inside the belly of the beast and adding another dimension altogether to the video. “KEVIN” continues to put up numbers on streaming platforms. Around the release, LA Weekly spoke to the guys for an in-depth profile.

After recently wrapping up their first-ever European tour, which included sets at festivals like Wireless, AG Club have announced that they will join Denzel Curry for a new set of dates in North America this fall. After previously touring with Denzel (who referred to AG Club’s set as “an insane live show you have to look out for”) and Pusha T separately across the west coast this spring, the trek kicks off on September 16 at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC, rolls through major markets on the East Coast and Midwest, and concludes on October 8 in Boston, MA at Roadrunner. “KEVIN” served as the follow-up to the group’s anthem “TRU RELIGION.” Earning critical acclaim, OnesToWatch christened it “unexpected in the best way possible” and further praised it as, “a nostalgic – dare I say – punk rock earworm that has arrived just in time for summer.” V Magazine raved, “The chorus is straight out of the ‘90s” and proclaimed, “this song was made for summer drives or dance parties.” Pigeons and Planes summed up fans’ collective feelings – simply, that they “can’t stop listening.” “TRU RELIGION” arrived on the heels of “MR. PUT IT ON.” Right out of the gate, the latter gathered 1.2 million Spotify streams and 413K YouTube views on the music video. Earning critical acclaim, HotNewHipHop hailed it as “an angsty, catchy adrenaline rush of a song,” and Attack The Culture added, “when you have a song and music video hitting as hard as ‘Mr. Put It On’ does, you can’t help but give it prime time positioning.”

AG Club have incited widespread acclaim since the release of their EP Halfway Off The Porch in 2020, which includes their breakthrough single “Memphis.” The headlines don’t lie. Highsnobiety raved, “AG Club is redefining the boy band,” and Complex exclaimed, “AG Club: Keeping the DIY Spirit Alive in Music.” i-D crowned them “the Bay Area music collective you wish you could join,” and FLAUNT noted, “AG Club / Not your average hip-hop group.” UPROXX also dubbed them, “The Youthful, Disruptive Rap Band You Need To Know,” while Pigeons & Planes named them a 2021 Artist to Watch. They packed dates on their 2021 headline run, “Fuck Your Expectations” Tour, and graced the bills of Lollapalooza, Day n Vegas, and more.
