Biden Campaign Blasts President Trump’s Failures on COVID-19 Testing

Today, in response to President Trump’s new comments on COVID-19 testing , Biden for President Deputy Campaign Manager and Communications Director Kate Bedingfield released the following statement:

“Once again, President Trump is saying the quiet part out loud. “When you test, you have a case. When you test, you find something is wrong with people. If we didn’t do any testing we would have very few cases.” Trump has failed the American people throughout his response to this crisis, and now, instead of finally doing what’s right, he would rather cover it all up.

“With his statement today, President Trump has once again demonstrated that he is more concerned with his poll numbers and his reelection than he is with safeguarding American lives and delivering real economic recovery — both of which every expert tells us can only happen with adequate testing capacity to track and stop this disease.

“More than 85,000 Americans have lost their lives after he failed to act on this crisis. Just today we learned that the total number of Americans that have filed for unemployment has grown to 36.5 million — the worst job loss our country has suffered since the Great Depression. That’s on his watch.

“Vice President Biden has repeatedly called for President Trump to stand up a Pandemic Testing Board, like FDR’s War Production Board, to massively scale up the production and allocation of equipment and supplies we need. This should happen today.

“Every new delay from this administration will lead to even more unnecessary deaths of Americans, and even more families thrown into financial catastrophe. President Trump needs to demonstrate real leadership now, but today’s comments give us no reason to believe he will.”
