Black Honey share new single & video ‘Lemonade’, announce 2024 live dates

Black Honey return with a brand new single and video ‘Lemonade’. Hot off another BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record play from Clara Amfo, ‘Lemonade’ lands alongside an announcement of a UK run of shows for early 2024 – their biggest to date.

Izzy Bee PhillipsChris OstlerTommy Taylor, and Alex Woodward have had a stellar year with the release of their third album A Fistful of Peaches which received huge praise across the board and gave them their highest chart position landing at number 6 in the UK album charts.

After a 15 date tour post album release and a swathe of summer festival appearances in recent months, Black Honey are rounding off 2023 with this new single before heading across Europe for a headline tour and support dates with Greta Van Fleet.

‘Lemonade’ is an anthem for anti-certitude, an honest acceptance that sometimes, if life does give you lemons, you can’t always make lemonade. It’s a shout out to those who are content just existing in their own tough situations and dealing with it; you don’t have to bring the positivity to please others. Life just sucks sometimes.

Izzy explains “I think we all got sold this ‘dream big’ concept. I’m having an existential realisation that we are just playing a game that’s designed to make rich people richer. I’m not sure what skills I learned in school other than capitalistic ones. They say when life gives you lemons make lemonade…well sometimes that’s just not f*cking doable. How about don’t make lemonade. How about the measure is to just exist and try and enjoy it, not take your bad situations and turn them into commercial gain.”

In classic Black Honey style, the single is accompanied by another dynamic music video which was directed by Izzy alongside Craig Hemming, and follows a cast of antiheroes. Izzy elaborates; “The video is a 12 character portrait series about different types of disappointment. We named each one and wrote a story for them. I wanted the ones we would consider successful societally to still be failures.”

2024 kicks off in full force with their ‘Inclusive Extravaganza’ live dates starting with a show at Concorde 2 in the bands’ heartland Brighton on January 31st and followed by Bristol, Leeds and finally London’s Kentish Town Forum on Valentines Day, February 14th. One for all the lovers out there. No haters allowed. Support comes from Picture Parlour and Kynsy, with further cameos set to include a sword swallower, drag queens, burlesque dancers and an Elvis impersonator.
