Multi-platinum Colombian singer, songwriter, producer, and musician Camilo (@camilo) delivered an unforgettable packed-house sold-out performance at Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage. “I didn’t know it was possible to perform in Central Park, so when I [got the call]…I couldn’t believe it. It’s iconic s–t,” Camilo shared with WWD earlier in the week. “…I know it’s gonnabe something that we’re gonna remember for the rest of our lives.” and it was!

The 6x Latin GRAMMY award winner and 3x GRAMMY nominee performed fan favorites alongside an acoustic rendition of his new single “Maldito Chat GPT” as the sea of captivated fans sang along to every single word. Camilo surprised fans with a special appearance by Argentine singer-songwriter Yami Safdie, joining him on stage to perform their heartfelt collaboration “Querida Yo.” Earlier in the week, he also made a surprise guest appearance with fellow Colombians and Latin pop-rock band Morat, performing their powerful track together, “Me Toca A Mí,” also in Central Park.

This sold-out SummerStage performance follows the final night of Camilo’s “Nuestro Lugar Feliz”World tour which wrapped in his hometown of Medellín, closing a whirlwind run through the U.S., Spain, and Latin America. The final show was part of La Feria, a hometown celebration featuring a full day of activities including a sampling of Camilo’s mother’s famous empanadas, and surprise guests including Morat, Nanpa Básico, Evaluna, Ricardo Montaner, and Mau y Ricky. Next up, Camilo will make a return to Japan for Coca-Cola x Fes at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama in October. More live dates to be announced in the coming months.

During an inspiring LAMC Q&A moderated by Billboard’s Leila Cobo, earlier this week, Camilo opened up about the highs and lows of his artistic journey. He performed acoustic versions of fan favorites like “Vida de Rico” as well as his new single “Maldito ChatGPT.” A standout moment came when emerging artist Gera Demara, who was seated in the audience, bravely asked if he could perform for Camilo. To everyone’s surprise Camilo said yes—and was visibly moved by Gera’s vocal and songwriting talent.

Reflecting on his creative process Camilo shared: “When it comes to writing my songs, I’m systematically opposed to being a perfectionist. For me, perfectionism is a burden, a mask of cowardice. We’re going to perceive excellence and it’s measured in the final product. It’s measured in the totality. I have the philosophy of ‘good enough.’ If I feel the song is good enough, that’s it — we’ll move on to the next one. When your creative brain is burned out, that’s when you start creating, and you ask yourself, ‘Is it good enough?’ Yes, next! Whatever is closest to the first creative seed is almost always the best.” Read more on the panel via Billboard.com.

Most recently, Camilo released a clever new love single, Maldito ChatGPT” alongside an official music video directed by Evaluna Montaner and Sebastian Andrade at El Taller Creativo in Miami, which questions the use of technology and artificial intelligence to make decisions.

Visually, it takes inspiration from TV thriller Severance which sees Camilo spiral in a dim, windowless office, surrounded by chaos: papers strewn on the floor, post-it notes scattered across the walls, and existential questions about his relationship filling the air as well as his computer screen. At one point, Camilo even swims atop a Xerox machine, stuck in a loop of indecision. [And this moment is memorialized in the official single artwork – download here!]

Lyrically, Camilo pleads for clarity, and eventually from ChatGPT, who supposedly knows him better than he does. However, he continues to search for answers: flipping a Magic 8-Ball, consulting a finger fortune teller, and pulling petals from a flower. The song sits in this tension — between knowing and not knowing what is real and true.
