CHET FAKER ACCLAIMED AUSTRALIAN ARTIST SHARES NEW TRACK “CAN YOU SWIM?”
‘A LOVE FOR STRANGERS’ OUT FEB 13TH VIA BMG
NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR KICKS OFF THIS SPRING
On the heels of his recent performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House, critically acclaimed Australian artist Chet Faker shares “Can You Swim?,” a deeply vulnerable look into his perspective on love, exploring a relationship through the concept of facing tidal waves & trying to stay afloat. Nick Murphy – the ARIA-winning songwriter, musician, and producer behind Chet Faker – layers his classically raw vocals with a somber piano arrangement, as he battles over whether he’s going to sink or swim in love. The latest single is from his upcoming album A Love For Strangers, due February 13th via BMG, which will be followed by an extensive North American tour kicking off April 30th in Los Angeles (see all dates below).
“Can You Swim?” is a beautifully earnest follow up to his previous release “This Time for Real,” which explored the balanced weight of expectation that comes with success as an artist. Murphy continues to open up new vulnerabilities of Chet Faker, building the world around A Love For Strangers, which is an album that sees Nick Murphy coming full circle and returning to the sense of exploration that led him to make music as Chet Faker in the first place.
The follow-up to 2021’s Hotel Surrender, A Love For Strangers emerged from a sense of personal rediscovery that was sharpened after the 10-year anniversary of his debut full-length, the sensational and career-ascendant Built On Glass. In a career defined by restless creativity – spanning albums under his birth name Nick Murphy, including the lauded instrumental work Music For Silence, and collaborations with artists like Flume and Marcus Marr – A Love For Strangers offers yet more proof that Chet Faker’s extraordinary musical explorations are only just beginning.
