Unapologetic rising artist CHINCHILLA has dropped savage banger “Cut You Off,” a power anthem loaded with feminine rage that explores the difficult emotional experience of finally cutting ties with a toxic person. Listen to “Cut You Off” via Republic Records. The track represents the empowerment and freedom that comes with putting yourself first after letting someone take advantage for too long, aligning with the message behind CHINCHILLA’s previous release “Little Girl Gone.”
“Cut You Off,” written and co-produced by CHINCHILLA, embodies CHINCHILLA’s ethos of authenticity, a trait seen throughout her discography that has deeply resonated with listeners. Before its highly anticipated release, CHINCHILLA teased an audio clip of the new song across her social media channels, amassing an incredible 2.2+ million TikTok views.
Speaking about “Cut You Off,” CHINCHILLA says: Cut You Off is a healer’s bop. It’s another one for the people pleasers… Little Girl Gone’s sequel. I think ‘cutting people off’ is a concept that actually I never really loved, until I guess I realised that some people truly don’t deserve to be able to get to your energy. It’s not something that’s easy to do and I wanted to get that mental struggle across in the verses, the journey that gets you to that point. We often put someone else’s feelings above our own, trying to keep the peace and appease this person and everyone else around us, when they’ve really only made our lives hell. It’s madness. I wanted to create a song that amplified the strength in making that call.”
“Cut You Off” follows the phenomenal success of “Little Girl Gone,” which CHINCHILLA released independently in April, after it unintentionally became an anthem for female empowerment. So far, the fiery track has racked up over 200 million combined streams and almost 14 million combined video views and made CHINCHILLA the first UK female soloist to top Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart. In August the track was announced as one of TikTok UK’s Top 5 Songs of the Summer.
