CIARÁN (FKA BEARFACE OF BROCKHAMPTON) RELEASES NEW SINGLE “RED 99”

Irish multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ciarán returns with new single “RED 99”, the latest offering from his forthcoming debut solo album ‘Róisín’, out November 6th on Ninja Tune. Out now, the single arrives alongside an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s New Music Daily.

Marking the fourth teaser from his forthcoming full-length project, and his first since performing under his previous moniker Bearface as part of BROCKHAMPTON, “RED 99” opens with a sultry guitar solo, gradually swelling into a layered crescendo before coming to an abrupt halt and closing out with Ciarán’s smooth vocals.

“RED 99” joins debut single “K-Bar” which has amassed half a million streams and more than 1M views across socials, “Galvarino” which has surpassed 600K streams and counting, and recent release “Houston” whose music video was well received by fans for its cameos from artists James Ivy and Roy Blair. Alongside this growing momentum, the project has so far gained support from the likes of Clash, The FADER, Rolling Stone, Pigeons & Planes, Wonderland, DORK and more.

Landing this November, across 13 tracks, Ciarán prepares to unveil the full spectrum of his musical prowess with ‘Róisín’, a project that traces a journey of him reclaiming his own name. Once destined to be his middle name, the title is a symbolic anchor for the project and one that pays homage to his Irish roots. “I was always hesitant to go by Ciarán,” he said, thinking people would struggle to pronounce his name at first, he later realised it made perfect sense. “People learn how to pronounce difficult names all the time. Irish names are beautiful.”

Rather than rushing to define what his next chapter would look like, Ciarán took the time to experiment with different sounds and approaches until he found something that felt entirely his own – “I’d rather wait and take my time than put something out because of any perceived pressures from anyone else,” he explains.

Rife with guitars, distorted vocals, and the collision of harsh textures and dreamy chords, ‘Róisín’ captures an artist fully settled into his identity, and fans will recognise it as a body of work that is unmistakably Ciarán.
