CLIP shares new single “NEEDmyFIX” ahead of Homixide Gang tour dates
Following her recent cover feature for Carhartt WIP, New York underground songstress CLIP has just shared a new video single, “NEEDmyFIX”, along with the announcement that she’ll be opening for Homixide Gang on their upcoming nationwide 5 Activity Tour. Produced by Chrlip and Ash Levi (Fivio Foreign, Lil Tecca, Fetty Wap), CLIP’s third record of 2024 is a dreamy trip marked by plush synths, cavernous trap drums, and lovesick vocals detailing a toxic relationship (“I can’t get you out of my head/I’d rather you be in my bed”) (“I need my fix”). The track follows a strong run of 2024 singles for the cult icon, including “HATE ME”, “2 The FACE”, and a recent appearance on Crystal Castles frontwoman Alice Glass’ new track “REMAINS”. Fresh off a string of dates opening for Black Kray on his When Doves Kry Tour and a performance at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash festival in Chicago during which she brought out skaiwater, CLIP recently popped out for Paris Fashion Week ahead of her upcoming performance at Vienna’s Rolling Loud Europe this month.
After exploding onto the scene in 2020 with her Ariana Grande co-signed breakthrough hit “Sad B!tch” (19M+ Streams), CLIP has been crowned by fans and critics alike as the ‘it girl’ of a new Internet-forward underground scene. Propelled by angsty charisma, whispery flows, and trend-setting tones, CLIP blends elements of hyperpop, emo, and trap, culminating in a cutting-edge style that demonstrates why DAZED featured her on their annual DAZED 100 list and PAPER featured her in their 2022 Cover Story, hailing her as an artist who “transverses both light and heavy energy through ambient instrumentals and hazy production”. Having steadily built a cult following for her endearing online persona, sharp fashion sense, and avant-garde production style, CLIP is riding the momentum from a monster 2023 year — garnering acclaim with singles “sunset blvd” and “RICK DENIMS”, a stint touring with Rico Nasty, and a mixtape, APPETIZER, which Pitchfork hailed as “sparkling and woozy, [shielding] CLIP’s vulnerability beneath layers of cranked-up bass”. Now, having been named among Pigeons & Planes‘ “Artists To Watch in 2024”, the internet’s resident “shy girl” and Brooklyn-based artist is leveling up as she prepares to release more music later this summer.
