Craig Campbell Releases “Leaving October” Music Video

Country star Craig Campbell recently released the emotional “Leaving October” single he premiered the equally poignant music video on his YouTube channel. Outdoor shots were lensed at Rocky Glade Cemetery in Eagleville, TN, and on Main Street in Eagleville, and scenes of Craig at the piano were shot at Adrian James Recording Studio in Nashville. Mark Manning directed the video, and Zachary Manning handled director of photography duties for Lone Valley Productions. Additional behind-the-scenes footage was shot by Maddy Grossl.

The clip opens in black and white with Craig alone and barefoot playing a grand piano in the studio. Transitioning to color outside, we see Craig walking very contemplatively down a busy street. He walks through a cemetery, rests on a bench and visits the grave of a loved one. The song ends back in the studio with the camera focused on his hands, as he plays the last few deliberate notes.

Originally written by Sons of the Desert lead singer Drew Womack and award-winning tunesmith Tom Douglas for the band’s 1997 debut Epic Records album Whatever Comes First, the song painfully recounts the memory of losing someone deeply loved. Produced by Craig with Bart Busch for Grindstone Recordings via Vydia, the new version of the song is the first release from his upcoming Class of 89 Deluxe Album.

Craig originally released his passionate Class of ’89 in April of 2024. The six songs represented the core influences who helped mold his desire to pursue a career as an artist and songwriter. Included on the album were his versions of Clint Black’s “Killin’ Time,” Mark Chesnutt’s “Too Cold At Home,” Restless Heart’s “Bluest Eyes In Texas,” “On The Other Hand” by Randy Travis, John Michael Montgomery’s “Be My Baby Tonight,” and a moving piano/vocal rendition of Travis Tritt’s “Anymore.”
