The online streaming figures from Digicel’s ‘Made in JamRoc’ concert are in! Since last Sunday, over two million
persons have since watched videos from the concert, making Made in JamRoc one of Jamaica’s most widely viewed local entertainment events.
During the live event, Digicel pulled in an audience of around 125,000 concurrent viewers from over 30 countries – enough persons to fill the National Stadium about four times. The figure also massively eclipses the almost 5,000 persons present at the historic event held at the company’s Downtown Kingston headquarters.
The live musical extravaganza held in honour of dancehall legend and Digicel brand ambassador Bounty Killer’s 50th birthday, featured surprise performances from his friends in the music business, including Shaggy, Spice, Laa Lee, Teejay, Konshens, Dexta Daps, Ghost, Tanya Stephens, Voice Mail, Richie Stephens and several other top acts.
Reflecting on the epic event’s astounding success, Chief Marketing Officer for Digicel Jamaica, Nasha-Monique Douglas, shared, “Made in JamRoc delivered exactly what we set out to achieve. Knowing that this is our 60th year of Independence, we came together with our customers to celebrate another significant milestone – Bounty’s 50th.”
For Douglas, the highlight was Digicel’s big announcement to celebrate its customers. She commented, “The show ended on a high with the launch of our $21 million Golden SIM summer promotion. It is also significant that the celebration took place as we commemorate 21 years of keeping Jamaica connected through technology that brings people together and delivers amazing digital experiences.”
Emoji-filled excitement dominated the announcement and the live streaming of the concert with Digicel customers and fans sharing in the night’s festivities. Instagram user @sandrene_poyser shared, “Yaad came right out. Our culture, Our people, Our music”.
Another user, @shaneice_missboss, remarked, “Best show! I was in my house jumping and screaming. Only thing missing was liquor! lol. Big up the general Bounty and blessings to Digicel”.
Expressing gratitude to the artistes and fans who helped make the night a memorable one, Douglas concluded, “We especially want to thank Bounty’s friends in the music business who took to the stage to shower him with musical tributes. We also want to thank our customers who waited out the rain to have a great time with us.”
