ELIO returns new single ‘Sorority’

Pop’s most exciting rising talent ELIO returns with her brand new single ‘Sorority’. After moving to LA and taking a 12 month break to hone her songwriting across Toronto, Nashville and LA, ELIO is back with new music. An impressive return to her stripped back bedroom pop origins, ‘Sorority’ is an introspective missive that encourages self-acceptance and the strength of female relationships as told through ELIO’s exceptional storytelling. It lands alongside a stunning video brought to life by Creative Director Dillon Matthew (Conan Gray, Addison Rae), who ELIO has enlisted for this new era.

Speaking on the track, ELIO explains: “Over the past couple years it’s been hard for me to escape the realizations of growing up in a society that teaches us what it means to be a woman. Sorority is the start of me unpacking the feelings of growing up and thinking that other girls were my competition. It’s hard to break away from all of the noise of what society wants us to be. 

I was having a conversation with my friends about how we were all scared of each other the first time we met, and it really made me question why that is such a common opinion among us. I love the women in my life but have no doubt been subject to comparison and felt the need to be the one that appears perfect. Sorority is about letting all that go and just being able to be there and support our friends and community with no expectations and judgement.”

Wide open and receptive to the possibilities of the world around her, Toronto’s ELIO is proving herself a boundary-less creative talent to be reckoned with. As the epitome of future facing pop, ELIO has already made a huge impression on the pop landscape, arriving right from her first single ‘My Friends Online’ as a ready made star in waiting.
