Emerging singer-songwriter Brenn! releases new six-track EP ‘Upstate’
Brenn! releases his second EP Upstate, a cohesive body of songs including three new tracks that expand the captivating world Brenn! first introduced listeners to with his debut EP, County Line, in 2024. The focus track “Upstate” encapsulates the hallmarks of a sound Brenn! has been honing since “4runner” in 2023, with a cathartic chorus and bridge section, and instrumentation that builds throughout the track to match the yearning in his lyrics. “natural disaster” and “iwbtotsy”, the two other new tracks on the EP, harness the same sense of longing and vulnerability reminiscent of celebrated folk artists Mumford and Sons, Hozier, and Noah Kahan.
Fans have already begun resonating with the new songs through pre-release teasers Brenn!has been sharing online after he returned home from his latest tour. Brenn! has grown immensely as an artist since his debut EP, and since the release of “4runner” (which has now reached over 100M streams globally on Spotify), but hasn’t deserted his strong, pre-existing identity along the way. He closes out Upstate with a motif that paints the image of a journey by car that has re-appeared in Brenn!’slyrics since his very first releases,“I’ll drive my way upstate just to find you.”
Upstate EP includes three already released tracks, namely, “Days On End,” “Water” and “Franklin House.” With each single release, Brenn! grew his dedicated fanbase and engaged them repeatedly through live performances and charismatic teaser videos. “Days On End” has garnered 23M+ streams globally on Spotify, Brenn!’s videos using “Water” cumulatively amassed millions of views, and “Franklin House” has reached 100K+ UGC on TikTok.
The release of Upstate EP follows the sold-out “Days On End” Tour, which spanned from March to May, and took Brenn! across North America, playing to sold out crowds at iconic venues such as The El Rey in Los Angeles and The Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Not only were fans thrilled to get the chance to sing along (to every word) of their favorite songs, Brenn! played unreleased tracks from Upstate on tour, inspiring fans to beg for Brenn! to release the new music. Following the momentum of tour, Brenn! is ready to enter a new phase in his career by introducing Upstate into the world.
Brenn! describes the personal meaning behind Upstate EP, “This EP is about my life and everything I have dealt with over the past 2 years. It’s a pivotal point in my career but also shows me, personally, how I’m in the end of this season of my life. I hope the people who care can feel this shift as much as me.”
