EMILY BURNS DROPS ‘I’M SO HAPPY’ VIDEO & RAG’N’BONE MAN UK TOUR SUPPORT COMING LATER THIS YEAR
One of the UK’s most exciting rising pop artists, Emily Burns, today releases her new track ‘I’m So Happy’ through Island Records. The single is available to stream and purchase HERE alongside Emily’s breath-taking new video.
The super talented young songwriter/lyricist has been on an upward trajectory most recently culminating in the release for a new version of her hit single ‘Is It Just Me?’, featuring label mate and hit maker JP Cooper. With over 19 million global streams and a Top 10 spot on the iTunes chart, Emily and JP performed the song live on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on the very first day the legendary Maida Vale studios opened its doors following lockdown.
In true Emily Burns style, ‘I’m So Happy’ is at once super catchy yet full of vulnerability – offering a complex mix of emotions from happiness and love to fragility and fear. In the video Emily expresses those feelings of having something magical and beautiful, and the fear and anxiety that comes with the chance of losing it all.
Talking about her inspiration behind the new single, Emily says: “I clearly remember the day I wrote “I’m so Happy” … I went into the studio and was in the best mood ever. I said to the guys about how good I was feeling, and how everything was going right in my life that day – “I’m in love, I have great family and friends, I love my job” and so on. We started talking about the fear that comes hand-in-hand with overwhelming happiness, the worry that something is bound to go wrong, even when it might never. That’s where the idea of “I’m so happy, it’s a problem” came from… the idea that sometimes happiness can be painful, because you feel like you’ve got so much to lose. It’s like being on a tightrope and knowing that one wrong move could cause the end of it all”
Emily’s star continues to rise with her much-anticipated UK headline tour kicking off in September 2021 with four sold out dates already (full dates can be found below)
Emily has also been confirmed as the special guest of Brit Award winning singer, songwriter Rag’n’Bone Man on his UK tour later this year.
Since the beginning of the UK lockdown Emily has used her platform to provide comfort and a sense of community for her fans, often addressing mental health issues both on and off stage; Emily has continued to engage with her fans, performing live on her Instagram and organising intimate zoom meetings called ‘Terrified Talks’ to connect with those who may have been feeling lonely during these unprecedented times. She also returned to the site of her first job with a very special live-streamed fundraiser show from the legendary Abbey Road Studios in aid of AKT Charity which supports young and vulnerable LGBTQ+ people faced with homelessness.
