EXPLOSIVE: HILLHAVEN, FEATURING MEMBERS OF ICE NINE KILLS + FROM ASHES TO NEW, DROP VIDEO FOR THIRD SINGLE ‘GAPS’

Earlier this year, a fresh band named HILLHAVEN was formed, comprising members from Ice Nine Kills and From Ashes to New.

They unveiled the official video for their third single, “GAPS”.

This release follows their previous buzzing singles, “Damned to Dream” and “The God You Think You Are”.

“GAPS” represents a subtle shift in the band’s musical direction, yet it encapsulates the essence of Hillhaven.

“This song was essentially the birth of Hillhaven,” shares vocalist Chris Kelly. “I initially penned it for a different project, but when that fell through, I forwarded it to Maty [Madiro, drums]. Almost instantly, we started discussing the prospect of initiating something new. The idea was exhilarating, yet daunting.”

He elaborates further, “I was a novice at being a frontman and writing lyrics, and this was going to demand a level of vulnerability that would certainly stretch my comfort zone. Nevertheless, the opportunity to create something novel with such talented individuals was irresistible. Many of Hillhaven’s lyrics are deeply cathartic, addressing darker themes as a means of healing. This is one of the more optimistic songs.

Kelly concludes, “It has a slightly more ‘feel-good’ vibe compared to the last two songs we’ve released, and I believe listeners will appreciate that. The typical ‘doom and gloom’ lyricism in rock and metal can sometimes be overwhelming, so it’s refreshing to inject some positivity.”

The band lineup includes the aforementioned Kelly (Alustrium, ex-Galactic Empire, and rumored to play for Babymetal’s band) on vocals, Maty Madiro from From Ashes to New on drums, Ricky Armellino from Ice Nine Kills on guitars, live From Ashes to New member Jimmy Bennett on guitars, and bassist Jaime GoWell.
