FUJII KAZE RELEASES “YOU (FEAT. UMI)”
Acclaimed Japanese singer-songwriter FUJII KAZE releases “You (feat. UMI)”, a new rendition of the standout track from his third album Prema, featuring singer-songwriter UMI, out now via Universal Music Japan / Republic Records.
Fujii Kaze and UMI first performed Kaze’s “Michi Teyu Ku (Overflowing)” together in Los Angeles in 2025, a collaboration that quickly drew widespread attention. On “You (feat. UMI),” the song’s second verse is reimagined with newly written lyrics and vocals by UMI. Their distinct voices intertwine and respond to one another, resonating throughout the track and bringing a fresh dynamic to “You.” Rooted in the friendship and musical connection they have built over the years, the collaboration transforms the song into a soulful new R&B rendition that reflects their shared belief in music as a messenger of love.
On the collaboration, Kaze says “I feel so whole right now, finally able to share with you all, what the universe has done through us. First and foremost, I’d love you to listen to and feel this extra-special version of ‘You’ with UMI. I always knew she was gonna slay on this track anyway, but I could never imagine it being this celestial. When I first heard her voice on this song, I couldn’t help but ask, how did You do that?? Truly a divine work. You only gotta open up, it takes you to another universe oh, should I say Umiverse. I’ll see you there, whenever you play this. Love.”
UMI adds, “‘You’ is an uplifting song that embodies my friendship and conversations with Kaze. We talk often about the power of music as a messenger of love & ‘You’ is a reflection of that. even before the remix ‘You’ was one of my favorites from Prema because of how much it uplifted me. being asked to be on this remix brought me so much joy and excitement because i got to be a part of a song that has helped me so much already.”
“You (feat. UMI)” arrives as part of the You EP project, bringing together four versions of the song: the new collaboration with UMI, an a cappella version, an instrumental version, and the original “You.”
Most recently, Kaze released the official video for “You,” filmed in Incheon, Korea, ahead of his sold-out performance at Gocheok Sky Dome. Set against Incheon’s distinctive backdrop, the visual features striking choreography by Korean choreographer Che Yubina, bringing a dynamic new dimension to the track.
Earlier this year, Kaze emerged as one of the major winners at MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026, taking home four awards, including Album of the Year for Prema, alongside Best R&B / Contemporary Song, Best R&B / Contemporary Artist, and Best Long Hit Album. He also teamed up with rising UK artist Elmiene on “Comets + Gold,” which the pair debuted live in a surprise performance at Summer Sonic.
Alongside nine stadium shows across Taiwan, Korea and Japan, Kaze has also announced “Fujii Kaze PIANO RECITAL,” a two-night solo piano concert at Tokyo Dome.
