Landmark Event to Air Friday, March 8th at 9PM on International Women’s Day
VH1 today announced that singer-songwriter Rita Ora will take the stage at this year’s “VH1 Trailblazer Honors” to perform her powerful and inspiring personal anthem, “Soul Survivor,” from her latest studio album, Phoenix. Ora’s performance will take place during the one-hour special event which airs on International Women’s Day, Friday, March 8th at 9PM ET/PT, on VH1 and Logo. The event will serve as a celebration of previously announced honorees Academy Award Nominee Ava DuVernay and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Ora is an international pop singer with multiple #1 singles and holds the record for the most Top 10 singles for a British female artist in the UK. Her US debut album Phoenix has amassed 1.5 billion streams worldwide, spawned 3 platinum singles and includes “Lonely Together,” her collaboration with Avicii which won Best Dance VMA at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. In addition, her debut album, Ora premiered at #1 on the UK charts and was certified platinum. Rita is also a multi-talented industry leader across TV, culture and fashion, with brand partnerships across key sectors. Her film credits include the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, Fast & Furious, Southpaw and the upcoming Detective Pikachu.
“VH1 Trailblazer Honors” will celebrate today’s most respected politicians, entertainers, artists, activists, allies and icons who have dedicated their time and steadfast commitments to the women’s movement and beyond. Centered around this year’s incredible breakthroughs in female empowerment and human rights, the annual event will feature the landmark achievements of its honorees. Additional honorees to be announced.
“VH1 Trailblazer Honors” will take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, a National Historic Landmark and extension of the Ebell of Los Angeles, a 125-year-old organization founded by women for women.
