Back of My Mind tour stopped in Philadelphia Saturday night for what it felt like an intimate night with Grammy Award and Academy Award winner, H.E.R. It truly was a vibe, the type of vibe you can enjoy with your Bae or even a group of friends. This was the perfect night at the Met Philadelphia. Fans lined up outside the venue talking about how they couldn’t wait for the show and how much they love H.E.R. The opening acts were also fire, setting the energy for the main act.

Ajanne Hambrick’s performance was a pleasant surprise. Even though she’s H.E.R.’s background vocalist, Ajanne’s performance and vocals took center stage with a few of her original songs as well as a cover- Brandy’s, I Wanna Be Down.

Before tonight I wasn’t familiar with R&B artist Maeta, but after tonight I’m a fan and I’m sure everyone else in the audience is as well. Her silky smooth vocals changed the mood to a chill vibe. Singing songs from her EP Habits and a cover – Silk Sonic’s, Leave The Door Open , left us wanting to hear more. Back of My Tour is a great introduction to Maeta.

Jersey native Tone Stith continued to wow the crowd with dance moves reminiscent of Chris Brown and smooth R&B vocals. Although he’s from Jersey, he still reps Philly! The Philly crowd was definitely him.

As the theater lights dim and the beat drops, H.E.R. runs onto the stage singing the chorus to Going Crazy… and the fans went crazy! Philly’s energy was so high that I’m sure Philadelphia has got to be the loudest city on the tour. H.E.R. gave “day one” fans a taste of what I call her classics, Focus and Avenue. She only gave us snippets of those songs but I would’ve love to hear the full version. Definitely left us wanting more and hanging on to every word. I also enjoyed her engagement with the crowd. The exchanges added to the intimate vibe. It felt more like a conversation and less like we were in a room full of people. Although Back of My Mind tour is coming to an end, the energy feels like it’s just getting started.
