HEALTH RELEASE NEW ALBUM CONFLICT DLC
Trailblazing industrial trio HEALTH release their new album, CONFLICT DLC, via Loma Vista Recordings. The band have also revealed the music video for current single ANTIDOTE.
After announcing the album in September this year, HEALTH are finally unleashing their hotly anticipated sixth studio album CONFLICT DLC. A stack of 12 full-octane industrial metal songs, this exhilarating new album sees HEALTH continue to explore deep existential undercurrents through a borderless genre lens. A slate of sad bangers for the end times, CONFLICT DLC finds connection in the disconnect and comfort in the dark.
Their unapologetically heavy sound has run from harsh electronic noise beginnings through gale-force industrial pop to the half-joking categorisation “cum metal” of their previous album RAT WARS – yet what unites HEALTH’s music is its root of depressive weight and maximalist aesthetic intensity. Heavy riffs and blistered snares rain down like boulders on singles “ORDINARY LOSS” and “VIBE COP,” while the dance-friendly beat of “SHRED ENVY” and yearning thrust of “THOUGHT LEADER” demonstrate a newfound embrace of bouncing between modes in the same track. Pop jams transition into heavy breakdowns transition, into suspended ambience – a sonic mirror for the chaos of modern life.
Speaking about the record, lead singer Jake Duzsik explains “It’s a strange potpourri. It’s more fun, faster, heavier and more sad all at the same time, which has its own strange relationship to how life is now anyway… except the more fun part”
On this new record, HEALTH want to speak directly to their fanbase, which they describe as a “coalition of subcultures” – spanning memelords, heavy music diehards, the delightfully perverted and generally pop culture obsessed – and for all its existential strain, it is ultimately designed for enjoyment.
Alongside the album release the band continue to build an ever-expanding series of exclusive remixes, released via their SoundCloud, featuring reimagined versions from artists including HVDES, PICTUREPLANE, BROOKS ALEXSANDER and LIL TEXAS. These remixes continue to build a parallel world around the album where HEALTH’s brutalism and club sensibilities collide.
The band are wrapping up their tour alongside Pierce The Veil later this week, which has seen them perform across the US, Mexico and South America. HEALTH have been unleashing their apocalyptic energy on stages throughout the continent, transforming each show into a visceral, full-body experience. Known for channeling chaos into catharsis, their performances fuse crushing riffs, sweeping electronics, and an intensity so consuming it feels more like a ritual than a concert.
