HOTWAX ANNOUNCE DEBUT EP ‘A THOUSAND TIMES’ OUT MAY 19TH
RELEASE ‘A THOUSAND TIMES’ SINGLE + VIDEO
Rising three-piece HotWax today announce their debut EP ‘A Thousand Times’, out May 19th via Marathon Artists (home to Courtney Barnett, Pond, and more). The EP announcement follows a riotous sold-out headline show last night at The Lexington and is accompanied by the release of its title track with an official video, shot and edited by lead singer Tallulah. HotWax will also play a special hometown EP release show at Hastings Printworks on 20th May, with support from Snayx and a Borough Council DJ set.
“The EP is a homage to mine and Lola’s relationship growing up together and the arguments we’d have a thousand times.”explains Tallulah; “The EP includes themes of guilt, love, climate change, womanhood, contraception, anxiety, and endings.”
At just 18 years old, the band is already dominating local scenes in the South East and completed a mini UK tour this month. They join Pearl Hearts and Sad Boys Club to tour this spring and play a string of summer festivals including Mad Cool and All Points East alongside The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The EP announcement follows the release of the band’s first single on Marathon Artists ‘Treasure’ which earned the band a ‘Next Wave’ on BBC Radio 1 – watch the official video HERE. The five track EP was produced by Ben Beetham (of Kid Kapichi) and mixed by Mike Horner (Hot Chip, HMLTD, Deaf Havana).
Raw punk powerhouse HotWax are ripping up the template and ripping up stages across the UK. With only a handful of self released tracks out, Tallulah, Lola & Alfie, having recently left school, are already confirmed to share festival stages with Queens of the Stone Age, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes this summer. Their rarified live energy and sound has already won the support of Nova Twins, Wolf Alice, Jack Saunders and Matt Wilkinson. HotWax harness the firepower of the grunge pioneers, their songs come armed with mighty choruses, and they possess the imaginative brilliance to stake out a new landscape in guitar music.
