Hozier graced the state of Pennsylvania not once, but twice this week. We were able to catch him on the Philly stop of his tour as he played to a sold out Met. Hozier’s 2019 Wasteland, Baby! Tour has been making its way around the world, and we were so honored to get to see him live.

Angie McMahon has already made a name for herself with popular hits like “Slow Mover” and “Missing Me” racking up millions of streams on Spotify. Angie took the stage solo on Tuesday night, and as she walked out wearing an old Life Is Good t-shirt, I knew we were in for a treat. Some of the most amazing acts have the simplest of set-ups, and this was the case for Angie McMahon’s set. Pure and raw vocals paired with stunning guitar playing created an otherworldly ambience throughout the whole room. Interacting with the crowd, she shared stories of her past, meanings behind songs and genuinely poured out her soul. One of the best opening acts I have ever seen, it’s only a matter of time before she is headlining her own show at the Met.

Hozier took the stage as deafening screams and camera flashes filled the room. Silhouetted by red light and smoke, Hozier sang “As It Was”, and the crowd went wild. His third song of the night was “Nina Cried Power”, a personal favorite of mine, and served as the perfect lead into the rest of the show. One of the most amazing things about Hozier’s artistry is the he truly makes an effort to use his platform to raise awareness for the greater good, heard especially in the song “Nina Cried Power”.

Wrapping up the night with a two song encore of, “Cherry Wine”, Hozier made sure to play a classic fan favorite with a booming performance of “Take Me To Church” Every member of the band was full of energy, and moved in unison that was completely captivating to watch.
