Nashville-based indie-rock band Edgehill unveils their highly anticipated debut album Ode to the Greyhouse – out now via Severance Records/Big Loud Rock. The release arrives as the band’s breakout single “Doubletake” surges into the Top 15 at Alternative Radio. Recorded at Pachyderm Studios, famously known for being the birthplace of Nirvana’s In Utero, Edgehill’s debut album chronicles the band’s emotional rollercoaster during a 6-month period of solitude. Titled after a real-life Greyhouse, the record pays tribute to an unassuming home in Nashville where the band’s identity and sound were crafted.
“We’ve always wanted to make a longer-form project, but making a record is hard. Finding the time, committing fully, doubting everything one moment, then being blinded by the light at the end of the tunnel the next. In a strange, meta way, Ode to the Greyhouse unintentionally became a reflection of its own impact on our lives,” shared Edgehill. “The album was written and arranged over a six-month period of self-isolation. Many of the songs came directly out of the boredom, frustration, and goofiness of those six months alone with ourselves. We oscillated between excruciating perfectionism and a total not-giving-a-fuck mentality. That was our reality, and by extension, the record’s.”
Written and arranged over a 6-month period of near self-isolation, Ode to the Greyhouse is as much a document of process as it is a debut album. “Scattered throughout the album are audio snippets pulled from dumb iPhone videos of even dumber conversations. You can also hear the obnoxious train that runs next to our house, blowing its horn three times a day, every day,” Edgehill elaborated. “It made its way into the music because it was impossible to ignore, just like everything else happening around us. Ode to the Greyhouse is a snapshot of who we were during those six months and ten days of recording, shaped by the people and sounds around us.”
The 9-track album features the previously released “I Can Be Your Dog,” “lol,” “17 Hours,” setlist staple “Love To Go,” and current Top 15 Alternative Radio hit “Doubletake,” as well as 4 new songs. As an additional bonus, the band has unveiled a music video for the album opener “Drone Song.” Celebrations continue next week in New York with the band’s album release show at Baby’s All Right on February 18.
2025 was a significant touring year for Edgehill. The band supported KALEO, Dogpark, Ax and the Hatchetmen, and Winyah on their respective tours, while still playing their very own intimate house shows. The band intends to keep the live show momentum up this year when they join Worry Club, Winyah, and Arcy Drive on their respective Spring tours.
