The project follows the success of his single “Bossa Nova” and showcases a deeply personal and genre-blending sound that defies borders and expectations.
Braye is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and self-taught musician whose music blends reggae, soul, jazz, and the rich cultural sounds of Nigeria and Ghana. Discovered by alté icon Boj, Braye has rapidly become one of the most exciting new voices in African music.
“Even with constant moving around, sleeping in a friend’s car some nights, and my dad not being too happy about my decision to pursue music… I just found a way,” Braye shares. “I feel like I’m meant to make music. I just wanted it too much not to take it seriously.”
Born under pressure and forged in perseverance, Braye’s music is both a product of his struggles and a testament to his artistic vision. His distinct sound is inspired by legendary voices such as Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Sam Cooke, and Ray Charles, and shaped by his journey from homelessness to the spotlight.
A child of the internet generation, Braye taught himself to play guitar and piano through YouTube and connected with producers online, refining his sound and storytelling. His poetic lyricism is enriched by his background in fiction writing, resulting in songs that are both vulnerable and bold.
