ASCAP hosted an exclusive gathering for genre-defying singer-songwriter Jessie Murph on Monday, September 15 at Analog at Hutton Hotel.

ASCAP VP Nashville Mike Sistad introduced Jessie and Columbia Records EVP A&R Ben Maddahi for a conversation that covered writing songs in her basement as a young teen, garnering large social media numbers on TikTok at 15, and just five years later, breaking attendance records on her summer tour while performing hits she co-wrote with top songwriters from a variety of genres.

Nashville creatives from the songwriting, music publishing, and media sectors enjoyed a brief acoustic set featuring her hits “Heroin,” “Touch Me Like A Gangster,” and “The Man That Came Back” from Jessie’s Sex Hysteria album.

Jessie’s sophomore album, Sex Hysteria, debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart and is her vice-laden manifesto where Jessie trades sorrow for sensation. It’s dopamine in album form—part ‘60s Pop, part early-2000s Trap, yet entirely Jessie. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 Chart, marking her first top 10 album on the chart. The record’s early breakout “Blue Strips” featuring Sexyy Red skyrocketed her to her highest Billboard Hot 100 peak yet at #15, while “Gucci Mane” (the song) became an underground fan anthem. “Touch Me Like A Gangster” debuted at #56 on the Billboard Hot 100, which saw Jessie chart two songs in the top half of the Hot 100 simultaneously. The album also sees real-life Gucci Mane tap in for the bouncy “Donuts,” while Lil Baby’s moody turn on “Best Behavior” is a smooth addition. Jessie also celebrates nominations for New Female Artist of the Year at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, Favorite Country Song at the 2025 American Music Awards and Song of the Summer for “Blue Strips” at the 2025 MTV VMAs.
